The times have changed.

As you may have noticed, things have been rather quiet on Reflection of Alice as of late. Thing have changed. The reason for this is I have been been quietly working on a new venture, The Thrifty Project.

The Thrifty Project is for anyone who wants to stay stylish on the most frugal of budgets, anyone who wants to know London's top cheap eats, or anyone who just want to know how to make their money strech a little further.  So please please (please!) follow me and spread the word as I need support and love from all my loyal readers.

Thanks to everyone who has followed me on Reflection of Alice, I hope to see all of you check in over at The Thrifty Project.

See you on the other side.

Trinny and Suzannah Magic Pants

I have never really been the kind of gal who gets upset about my various lumps and bumps, but then the fitted maxi came along. Overnight I seemed to be sporting long black unforgiving dresses, and it seemed with the trend came a visible knickerline, a big butt and a pot belly which I previously didn't know existed.  So I invested in spanx, and suddenly my stomach was smoother than ever before, my butt firmer and my thighs silky smooth. Win, win right?

Recently it seems spanx are a growing trend, and with any trend comes the good, the bad and the ugly. So when I was asked to try out Trinny and Suzannah's new line of magic pant's, by Tights Please I only too kindly obliged. I decided to try out the tanned version of their all in shapewear, which arrived in a teeny weeny childlike size. Once I slipped the suit on it sucked in all ones lumps and bumps, creating a perfect silhouette for unforgiving all in ones such as maxi's or cat suits.

So if like me your not particularly concerned about your lumps and bumps but have found yourself in a maxi dilemma then be sure to invest in some of these magic pants.

Original Magic Knickers come in 9 different styles, in a range of colours, starting from £26. Stocked nationwide and online at www.trinnyandsusannah.com  & www.Tightsplease.co.uk

Sunday Lazing and Brownie Making

Sundays are for eating, sleeping and brownie baking. Today I have mostly listened to Laura Marling, begun reading Never Let Me Go under a blanket on my sofa, and watched the rain beat against my window pane.

I also baked brownies. But not just any Brownies. Hellman's popped into visit me at work recently with a basket of brownies they made using mayonnaise instead of butter. They were divine.

So I recreated them today - with great results.  If anyone wants te recipe - let me know!

I've been away

Follow my blog with bloglovin

So I've been away. For far too long. As a few of you may have noticed my domain has changed as a man from Denmark unexpectedly took my domain name (google gave me no warning to tell me it was expired) and then demanded $500 dollars for me to have it back. The combination of this upsetting event combined with a incredibly busy new career had made me neglect my blog.

So I have decided to begin blogging today as there is no time like the present. Sorry to anyone has has wondered where I have gone - or stopped following. Excitingly as a result of the blog theft I have decided to start a new blog next month... so watch this space. For now here are some images of an average outfit combination yesterday...

Topshop Unique SS11

I’m not sure whether it’s down to its wearability, its relevance or its status but somehow Topshop ALWAYS draws the in crowd at fashion week.  This year their SS11 collection was no exception.  The venue alone caused quite a stir – held in the ex Eurostar tunnel in Waterloo, the glass tunnel gave the fashion crowd a welcomed opportunity to sit and observe the collection in perfect sun glass sync.

As usual the FROW (front row) was full of the fash pack, including a pristine Olivia Palermo, a grungy Pixie Geldof and a glowing Lily Allen – all keen to see what the trend setting shop would dictate for our SS11 wardrobes.  Warm  Autumnal colours streamed through the collection, and a 70’s vibe dominated.  Think afro’s, think platforms and lots of decadent glamour.

The collection was daring, vibrant and sure to make the 70’s big news next season. So if Phillip Green is to be trusted then the other side of this blustery season keep your eyes peeled for metallic bikini’s, tye dye dresses and maxi style skirts. Amaze.

Autumnal Highs

When I think of my childhood, one of the earliest memories I recall involved walking through Richmond Park on an crisp September morning.

Every year as the winter began to draw in and the summer phased out, my father made it a ritual to take me to Richmond Park to watch the seasons change.

I suppose this factor is partially responsible for my love of Autumn. But then I grew up and discovered Clothes. COATS, gloves, thick wooley jumpers, Jeans, boots and LAYERS lots and lots of layers. For me it didn’t get much better than this.

So although Summer I love you heres to an Autumnal breeze, cosy nights and most importantly a fail proof Shearling Aviator Jacket – I intend to bask in your clothing glory.

Below are my seasons highlights -  over and out.
